My First Time Tag

Hey guys, does anybody else experience that moment when you feel like you wrote a blog post a few days ago and then you go on your blog and realise that actually it’s been way longer than you originally thought? Yeah? Well that’s me right now. I am so sorry for neglecting this blog, basically exams have been catching up with me and I had a moment last week when I was just like, ‘I need to take a break. I’m not a robot, I’m human. I can’t just keep going like this.’ and so I took a break, other than that I’ve just been busy with work and commitments and activities, so I’m sorry. I also realised that there hasn’t been a singe day this year when I haven’t been stressed and that made me really sad…

Anyway! I have decided to do a tag that was quite popular on YouTube for a while and then I think everyone kind of did it and since then it hasn’t really been a thing, I’m a bit late to the party but thought it would be fun to give it a go!

Quickly, before we get into the post I would just like to say that this isn’t a tag where I tell you all about my personal love life or anything, I mean come on! Who do you think I am?!  This is a tag where I tell you about my first time doing particular things, whether that’s my first exam, holiday etc. either way, it’s nothing to do with sex.

So, let’s get into it!

My First Time Going To A Concert – Now this is a great story, so… my first real concert – I say real like that because I’d been to concerts with my Mum but this was my concert – was a One Direction concert, I know, I’m a legend! It was when they were touring their album ‘Take Me Home’, it was such an amazing night! I couldn’t stop talking about it for hours! It had been a bit of a day though, there were a few complications which I won’t get into about whether my friend was actually allowed to attend the concert with me because her parents weren’t sure if they wanted us going in on our own, but it all worked out and it was amazing! Surprisingly, I didn’t actually cry! The audience were amazing, One Direction were amazing, the experience was just incredible and I am so glad that it was the first ever gig I’d been to, I think of it with fond memories!

My First Time Crushing On A Celebrity – Haha… So… I was about nine-years-old I think, maybe ten. My Mum had finally let me watch High School Musical and I mean, come on, Zac Efron in the High School Musical days, you can understand why right? I mean, I was ten. But I was absolutely obsessed with those films. I remember watching the second one first, the third one second and the first one last but I was addicted, I would watch them all the time and I knew all the words. I even had a High School Musical karoke game on my Nintendo Wii! I’m also pretty sure I had a DVD which taught me the dance routine to ‘We’re All In This Together’ from the end of the first film. I don’t exactly know when I realised I had a crush on him, I think it just kind of happened and I was really young and didn’t really understand anything back then haha! I’ve moved on now though…

My First Time Swimming In The Sea – I don’t know why I decided to include this but I know that a lot of people think swimming in the sea is sacred or something, I hated it. I was visiting my friend and we’d come from another activity but we went down to the beach and it was a lovely sunny day, we were all lying around on the beach, my friend and our families because I was quite young, in fact we might have come from the swimming pool… but then suddenly loads of my friends and family decided they were going to go swimming in the sea and I’d never done it before so I thought ‘why not?’, so I went and got changed into my swimming suit and went swimming in the sea, by swimming in the sea I actually mean, I didn’t go very far out because I was too scared of drowning so I stayed very close to the shore and my feet kept hitting the stones at the bottom and it was really hurting my toes and I kept getting salt water in my mouth and basically I absolutely hated it.

My First Time Performing On A Stage – So, there are two different stories for this. My first time performing on a stage ‘technically’ was when I was on holiday and I was camping and there was like a children’s ‘competition’, it wasn’t actually a competition but it was just an opportunity to showcase a young person’s talents and skills or something. But I sang a song on stage, with proper lights and a proper microphone and it was scary but I got through it and I really liked it! That was my singing career over. Then about a year later, I was on a theatre stage at my local theatre and it was my first ever drama performance and I had the lead part and it was terrifying because I’d never done anything like that before and I had a massive three page monologue to remember and it was just really scary but I absolutely loved it! It was so much fun! That kind of started my aspiration to be an actor really.

My First Time Buying Make-up – Some of you might think this is a bit of a stupid one for me to include but I thought I’d add it anyway, for a lot of people they’re not all that fussed about make-up, they’re parents don’t really have an opinion on it, sometimes they might wear it sometimes they might not. When I was growing up I was surrounded by all these TV shows that were advertising ‘pretty women’ and lots of make-up to me, this was the ‘ideal’, of course I was also surrounded by family games and trips to the park etc. I wasn’t an introverted child that sat indoors watching Hannah Montana but when I did watch TV that is what it would be, evidently as a young girl she was who I aspired to me. I wrote in a diary somewhere once that when I grew up I either wanted to work with dogs or be Hannah Montana. So my first make-up buying experience was one step closer to my dream career of being Hannah Montana! However I wasn’t actually allowed to wear the make-up I bought, I sneakily bought it on a day out with my grandparents when my Mum wasn’t with us in the hopes that she would then be guilt-tripped into letting me keep it and use it. It didn’t really work, I did get to keep it and I’m not sure how much of it I actually got to use but it was like ‘toy’ make-up, I bought it from Smith’s the toy store, I mean, it came from a toy store you can imagine how bad it was, but that was my first make-up buying experience. I have a much better collection now, don’t worry!

My First Time Properly Walking In A Pair Of Heels – This happened really recently I’m not going to lie, I actually think I might have spoken about this somewhere in a blog post before but this is ‘The First Time’ tag so I’m going to repeat myself. My first time walking in heels was last October. I had bought a brand new pair of high heels (in black) for a performance that I was going to be in later on in the month, I think I had about five days before the show and I’d never worn a pair of heels in my life! So, being the clever person that I am I bought them in my town after work and then I got the bus halfway home and decided to walk the other half, it was a nice sunny day despite being October and I was feeling in a good mood, I got about ten steps before realising that it had been a really terrible idea because I wasn’t only walking home in a pair of heels for the first time ever I was also walking home carrying a shoe box with the shoes I’d previously had on my feet and a bag of hay for my rabbit as well as my handbag and anything else I happened to be carrying, so I had my hands full and I was wobblying all over the place, I could actually see people laughing in their cars as they drove past. It was not a great experience, and then I had a show a few days later with these massive blisters on my feet but I still love the shoes to this day and wore them out for dinner a couple of months ago.

My First Time Owning A Laptop – This was a great moment for me! I can’t remember what made me decide that I wanted a laptop, maybe I thought it was cool or I had an actual reason, I’m not sure. I was ten when I got my first laptop, it was kind of checked pink with some flashes of yellow and purple, it was an absolutely beautiful laptop and I cherished it and loved it so much! It was pretty much my life and I have used a laptop non-stop ever since that day – almost seven years. There pretty much isn’t a single day that passes when I’m not using my laptop either for writing, reading, messaging my best friend, watching YouTube or Netflix; quite frankly I don’t know what I’d do without one now. I still own my first ever laptop actually, it’s sitting on my desk, it doesn’t work though (it did last five years though so we can let it off), it’s the smallest laptop you’ve ever seen in your life, it’s so adorable! If anyone saw it nowadays they’d think it was a child’s toy but it wasn’t, it was a legit laptop. It was a great first laptop and I will always think of it with fond memories but I’m now in love with my new laptop, it’s like my second life.

My First Time Breaking A Bone –Haha! I’m going to tell you an embarrassing story, something that I find embarrassing now and that I found embarrassing at the time. I must have been between the ages of 9-11 when this happened, basically, I broke my wrist. It wasn’t bad or anything, I was coming home from the shops with my brother and sister and my Dad. My sister decided to randomly chase me, as you do at a young age and it was all fun and games, I decided to be clever and run backwards to try and outrun her whilst running backwards, however, this didn’t go according to plan and I ended up tripping and I was going to fall right on my back and so instinctively my body tried to twist around so I could use my palms to stop me from falling, however I was falling faster than I could twist and so I ended up landing on my wrist – I didn’t know it at the time but it was broken. My Mum was at work and when she got home I told her what happened, she tried to test whether I had any strength in it before telling me to sleep on it and we’d see how it was in the morning and go from there. The next day when my mum woke up I was sitting at the table eating my breakfast with the spoon in my right hand – I’m left-handed – my mum asked me why I wasn’t eating with my left-hand and so like an idiot I told her that I just felt like it on that specific day, she asked me if it hurt too much to eat with my left-hand and I told her no it didn’t, so she asked me to eat with my left-hand. I put the spoon in my left-hand and although I could physically grip the spoon I couldn’t really do anything else with it, I remember trying to put the cereal in my mouth but my arm was too weak and shaky to actually get it there and cereal was spilling off the spoon all over the place, at the time I was really upset because I knew it was going to involve a trip to the hospital but looking back on it now it always makes me laugh. So yeah, I had to have a cast for three months I think and every single time I saw a doctor or nurse at the hospital that day I had to explain that I had broken it running backwards, which was really embarrassing.

My First Time Going To A Sleepover – I think I was relatively old when I had my first sleepover, I must have been about 11. I was so excited and happy that I was getting to stay round my friend’s house overnight – I thought this would instantly move me into the ‘cool person’ category, that once I had my first sleepover I may as well be Regina George minus the meanness. Except at this time I hadn’t even seen Mean Girls. But anyway, I’m pretty sure it was my friend’s birthday party and she was having loads of people but only two of us were staying the night. So she had her party – I wore this beautiful sparkly pink dress from either H&M or BHS, I loved it so much and in fact still own it! She was having some kind of ‘princess’ party or something (really funny if you could see her now) and her parents had hired these make-up artists/hairdressers/party people and they curled my hair and gave me gel eyeliner. It was a great first sleepover.

I’m going to end this post here as it is much longer than originally intend but I enjoyed it so much! I didn’t realise quite how much I was going to enjoy it until I started writing it! I would really love to do a part 2 as I’m liking this ‘get to know me’ aspect of the blog, if you have anything you’d like to know ‘my first time’ experiencing do let me know in the comments and I’ll make another post!

The Candy Book Tag

Hey guys, I hope you’ve all been having an inspirational and exciting week.

Today’s post is going to be a tag, I’m very excited because I haven’t done a tag in ages! I would like to apologize to Queen JoJo for taking so long to do this tag, with Blogmas and studying I’ve only just got round to it. I would also like to thank her for nominating me for this tag, I’m so pleased that you did! 🙂 Make sure to go and check out her blog – I’ve only been following her for a short time but her blog is amazing! Before I start I would like to say that this tag is about books and the headers for each ‘question’ is very creative and clever in how it asks the question. So, keep an open-mind with this tag and enjoy!

Okay, now that we’ve done that, let’s get right into it!

Apples – Ah. Healthy food. It is deep, meaningful and has probably won a lot of awards but it really isn’t your thing;

Okay, there are so many books that I could put into this question, so many, but I think the one I’m going to go for is Harry Potter, I know I’ll probably lose half my followers for this but I’m just being honest. It’s one of the most successful novels ever and yet I can’t understand why it’s so popular, when I was younger I used to absolutely adore the films and although I loved to read; the books were a bit out of my comfort zone due to length and I thought they needed a lot of editing. If you like it, that’s fine, I’m not criticizing. I just don’t hugely have an interest in it.

Milk Chocolate – This is a book you’d recommend to absolutely EVERYONE;

I have to go with my absolutely all-time favourite book, an Australian classic called Queen Kat, Carmel and St Jude – Get A Life By Maureen McCarthy. It is the most influential and brilliant book I have ever read. It is fantastically laid out so that you get to read one third of the book from each characters perspective in a way that isn’t annoying and adds to the book rather than taking away from it. It’s about three university students who all share a flat together and they are absolutely nothing alike, they have to learn to get on and juggle university life at the same time. Funnily enough, they’re not as different as they seem. I would suggest that everyone reads this book because it is nothing more than a simple book about life. Everything that happens is a perfectly natural, realistic lifestyle and I think there’s something about it that is just so genuine and fresh compared to all the books that are current at the moment.

Black Jellybeans – Why do these exist;

I’m not entirely sure what the rules are about this tag, do I have to have read the book? Or can it be something I haven’t read? I don’t know, but I’m going to go with a book I haven’t read – Fifty Shades Of Grey By E.L James, I’m sorry but I just don’t understand why this book has become such a big thing. Okay, E.L is entitled to write any fanfiction that she wants but why anyone decided to actually officially publish the thing is beyond me, being a fanfiction on one website will by definition reach less of an audience than publishing it and turning it into a movie franchise, it should have stayed on whatever fanfiction website it was and only have been accessed by the people that wanted to find it. Instead, it’s been published and advertised and now it’s promoting abusive and violent relationships with dangerous and controlling men and I just don’t think that’s what the world needs. We need to be breaking away from views and suggestive relationships like these not promoting them, especially in this day and age. The thing that annoys me most isn’t that the books exist but that people who really should have more sense are reading the books thinking this is a relationship to aspire to, it’s one thing reading a book like this and knowing it’s absolutely outrageous and appalling and not something to aspire to – much like you would watch an action film and not necessarily believe that’s what you should want to happen in real life – and deciding to read it anyway, it’s another thing to read it and then actually want to be able to live a life like the characters from the book, but I haven’t actually read it so what do I know?

Chocolate Kisses – Awww this novel had the best romance;

I had to think about this one for ages, I am all for a really great romance in a novel, in some books it makes the difference between a decent book and an amazing book. I’m not sure I can definitively decide but the two choices are; Noah and Penny from Girl Online By Zoe Sugg or Grace and Sam from Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater. Both of these romances are just insanely cute and adorable.

Gummy Spiders – Eek! You made sure to check under your bed every night for a week after reading this scary one;

I don’t tend to read scary novels really, it’s not so much that they’re not my thing but more that I just never get round to it and I can only read emotionally challenging and adrenaline creating books if I’m in the right mood for it, the right frame of mind so I usually go for an easy read, something that will keep me entertained but that no matter my frame of mind I can always read otherwise I’ll either have to not read if I’m not in the right frame of mind or I’ll have to be reading multiple books at once. I guess, at a push, The Woman In Black By Susan Hill because it’s the only book of ‘horror’ genre that’s even remotely freaked me out and there was only really a page that freaked me out. There have been plenty of moments in books where I’ve found it challenging to read it because it’s been so horrible but I haven’t been ‘scared’.

Jumbo Lollipop – This took you forever to get through, but hey! You did it;

So… there have been plenty of books that have taken me a long time to get through purely because I haven’t had the time to read but the two books that have taken me the longest to read through their size, and that I was younger and read a lot slower then (and I found one of them incredibly dull – guess which one and let me know in the comments) were; Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows By J.K Rowling and Twilight: Breaking Dawn By Stephanie Meyer. These both took me a really long time to get through and with one of them I very almost gave up because I just couldn’t even be bothered but my Mum told me I wasn’t allowed to watch the film until I’d read the book, I understand now that she was just trying to encourage me to read but I hated the book so much that it was really hard to finish but I wanted to see the film.

Cotton Candy – Admit it, you loved this when you were younger (you probably still do). Think children’s or MG fiction;

I am not going to lie, I do still love this book, I got it for Christmas when I was nine-years-old and it changed my life. It led me to a whole new area of life and discrimination that at that time I hadn’t really thought about, hadn’t even understood but through the author’s pure genius of storytelling he managed to capture my attention and keep me entertained whilst teaching me something really important about humanity. This book was Shadow by Michael Morpurgo and is probably the second highest book that I would recommend to absolutely everyone, old and young, boy and girl, women and man, there is not another book like it. It’s a must read for everyone. Michael manages to connect with young people the way lots of people do, by using dogs or other cute animals and yet with doing so he teaches you about not only war but also refugees and before you know it you’re aware of these new things and you’re thinking about everything more than you might have done before reading the book. It’s just great!

That brings us to the end of this post, I really hope you got some ideas for books to add to your to-read list, which, if you’re a reader is probably much too long. If you did enjoy this post then please make sure to give it a like, every little helps haha! If you aren’t following me already then you can go and do that to read new posts by me as soon as they’re published! Please share some of your favourite (or least favourite) books in the comments below as I am always looking for suggestions!

I nominate anyone that would like to do this tag, it’s open to all bloggers! Join in the fun! I don’t nominate specific blogs because I don’t want them to feel pressurized into doing a post that they don’t connect with or have any interest in doing because I know their post will suffer for it. But if it’s inspired you then please feel free to get involved – make sure to leave your version in the comments below so I can check it out!

Have I Ever feat. FlawedSilence

Hey guys, I’ve got a special blog post for you today as I have a special guest that’s been so kind as to do a collab with me! I really enjoyed putting this collab together with FlawedSilence and it was really nice to be able to do something like this with another person, as opposed to doing it on my own by finding questions online etc. I’m going to give you a short description on how the post is laid out. I’ve laid it out in a kind of interview style with the question and then the answer and who the answer was written by. I’ve also divided it into two sections, the first section being my questions to FlawedSilence and their answers. The second section being FlawedSilence’s questions to me and my answers. I really hope you enjoy this post! Make sure to go and check out FlawedSilence’s blog and give them a follow while you’re over there!

– Have I ever; stayed up for 24 hours without any sleep (explain):

Flawed Silence: I have never done this although I have come pretty close. Sometimes, in the holidays, I used to read books late into the night but I often fell asleep when my eyes just couldn’t take it anymore. Oh and this one time I had, I think, a sixteen hour conversation with my mate; it was when we were getting to know each other and we just clicked and we texted each other for a long time XD Now I am extremely careful to get sleep.

– Have I ever; done something behind my parents back:

Flawed Silence: Um I hope not haha. I don’t think that I have.

Have I ever; lied to my best friend:

Flawed Silence: I have never done this. Maybe a few white lies because we all have at some point. I try to be as honest as possible.

– Have I ever; Dyed my hair:

Flawed Silence: I have never done this.

 – Have I ever; Cried reading a book:

Flawed Silence:  I have never done this. Books can leave me feeling immensely empty and sad but I have yet to cry at one.

– Have I ever; Been abroad:

Flawed Silence: I have. My first time going on a plane and therefore abroad was a year ago. I went on a day trip to Amsterdam. The plane flight was terrifying .

– Have I ever; Embarrassed myself in public (explain):

Inspired Teen: Yes, I have, probably a billion times. But we’d be here forever if I tried to tell you on all the occasions that I embarrassed myself in public. I got my first ever pair of heels quite recently and decided to walk home in them for the very first time, the walk was about fifteen minutes and the entire way home I was stumbling and wobbling and I could see the people staring at me in their cars as they drove past. I also have embarrassed myself in front of bus drivers a number of times recently. I embarrassed myself during a couple of performances I had at the end of October – one way by tripping up some stairs and stumbling in high heels, another time by going to do a really high kick and accidentally kicking the back of my foot with the foot I was supposed to be kicking with and stumbling over – doing a very sloppy and terrible kick… awkward…

 – Have I ever; Laughed at song lyrics or music videos:
Inspired Teen: I laugh quite a lot at the music my Mum listens to – and heavy metal music (not to insult or upset those that listen to it) – I always laugh at songs that have swearing in it because I tend to listen to music that is child-friendly such as boybands etc. so when I hear swearing in songs it most often makes me laugh. I’m not sure if I’ve ever laughed at a music video though… probably, but I don’t often watch music videos.
– Have I ever; Had the inspiration to create another blog on a different theme:
Inspired Teen: Well, actually, I’m going to share a secret, I do have another blog on a different theme… unfortunately I’m not going to tell you what the blog is or even what theme it’s on. My sincere apologies if you thought I was going to and got your hopes up. It’s just for privacy, safety, confidentiality reasons etc. but I haven’t written anything on it in ages anyway. I started it for a project I was doing but then eventually became able to create the blog I really wanted to create without my Mum objecting.
– Have I ever; Woken up from a dream and then felt as if it actually happened due to it’s realistic nature:
Inspired Teen: I have a lot of dreams and obviously whilst in the dream I believe that they are real but I’m not sure if I’ve actually had dreams where I’ve woken up and believed it actually happened. Maybe for a very small amount of seconds, I quite often have dreams about normal things the day before – for example, I quite often have dreams about going to work the night before going to work and nothing out of the ordinary happens I just go to work and then I wake up and think it’s the day after going to work but it doesn’t last long. I also, on occasion, have nightmares about pets or loved ones dying and then have this terrible urge to go and check on them and make sure they’re not dead; I know they’re not I just feel like I need to be certain.
Have I ever; Lost the person you were with (outings, shopping, school):
Inspired Teen; I have done this on a number of occasions with my Mum. I apparently did it when I was really young and at a group singing lesson, I got lost and just screamed at the top of my lungs in the middle of the hall until she came and found me – which was easy because I was screaming so loudly – I remember once getting lost in a WHSmith’s because my little sister was looking at something on the shelf and my Mum walked away to look at something else, I stayed behind to look after my sister and make sure she didn’t get lost but then we both got lost from my Mum – we looked around the whole shop and couldn’t find her, my sister was really little and I was young too and I was trying to keep her calm and stop her from running off whilst simultaneously trying to find my Mum – it was a horrible experience but we found her eventually. I get lost from my family all the time when we go to the shops but luckily I’m old enough now to have my own mobile phone so I just phone them if I get lost from them, it wasn’t so easy back then.
Have I ever; Stopped watching a movie or TV show halfway through it’s duration:
Inspired Teen:  I have obviously stopped watching a lot of things and put them on pause because it’s got really late but there are some things I stop watching and never go back to. For example, Deadpool, I absolutely hated it, I found it really sexist and really horrible, it wasn’t my kind of humour, I thought the fact that they joked about the superhero nature of Deadpool took away the enjoyment of watching a superhero film, as superheroes are ridiculous but the thing that makes it possible to watch superhero films is that everyone takes the superhero thing deadly serious in the film and I think that if they don’t it just doesn’t work. I didn’t like the way it was narrated, I didn’t like the random five minute sex sequence, I just thought it was terrible. I never want to finish watching it.
We also did a post over on FlawedSilence’s blog on the topic of Would You Rather – go and check it out! It was great fun to write and collab with FlawedSilence, you’ll be missing out if you don’t go and read it right now! You never know when it might be gone…

The Best Friend Tag

Greetings, readers. Something is different today. Can you tell what it is? Perhaps the first sentence will shed some light. Even if it is only two words long. Then again, it might not. The title of this post is a more obvious clue.

I am not inspiredteen. That is, I am not the usual writer of this blog. I am her friend, Jamila. Her BEST friend, Jamila. I am hijacking her blog to tell you some stuff about her that you might not otherwise know. Strictly speaking, I am ‘guest posting,’ but I feel that ‘hijacking’ is a more appropriate term. I feel a bit rude, really, forcing my presence on you. I mean, there’s a reason you follow inspiredteen and NOT me. Kudos if by some miracle you happen to follow both of us, but I doubt that is the case as we have not linked to each other in the past.

The reason I am here is to answer some Best Friend Tag questions. These will tell you more about the writer of this blog (Oh, all those juicy details she failed to mention) and about me, Jamila – because who are we without our best friends? 🙂

  • When and where did you meet?

I met inspiredteen at a homeschooling festival when we were 12. She was running a dance workshop that I attended, and to be honest, I did not for a minute imagine that we would stay in contact, let alone become best friends. I thought of her as the leader of a dance workshop rather than someone my own age that I could have a conversation with. Firstly, I assumed she was about two years older than me. Partly because she was taller and partly because, uh, she was running a workshop? I did think it was cool, though, that she was running a workshop even though she was ‘only a bit older than me.’ I eventually found out that she was two months YOUNGER than me, and lost all respect for her. Alright, I didn’t lose all respect for her. But I was surprised that she was so young. Secondly, she was really into One Direction? At the time I was one of those people that hated One Direction, and perhaps thought it was slightly cool to dislike them… Thirdly, inspiredteen and I hardly talked to one another at the camp. I only interacted with her when I turned up for her dance workshops each day. She has since told me that I was the only person who consistently turned up for all the workshops, and that she was relieved to know that I would I would be there each day. She is a good teacher, by the way. If you ever meet her, you must ask her to show you how to do a dance. At the end of the camp, I gave her my e-mail address.

  • Why are they your best friend?

Inspiredteen e-mailed me a couple of days after the camp. It is funny when I look back at our first few e-mails because we knew each other so little. I can go and read the e-mail where I asked her how many siblings she had, or something basic along those lines. I find it funny when we talked about the weather in one e-mail. The thing is, the more we communicated, the more we revealed about ourselves, and bizarrely, the more we found we had in common. Despite having what seemed like the opposite interests, our personalities are not too different. Inspiredteen became the one person I could talk to who I knew would not judge me. She was always empathetic, and above all, interested. I appreciated the fact that she felt she could confide in my as well. Well, she could. We told each other about our daily lives, and our conversations progressed from our hobbies to our life’s ambitions. There is a reason why Inspiredteen has such a name on this blog. She really is an inspiring person to know. She always encourages me to pursue my goals, and she is one the most positive people I know.

  • Is there anything you’d change about your best friend?

Err, her music taste? 🙂 Need I say more?

  • What is the once thing you admire the most about your best friend?

She is a person of conviction. I don’t mean that she’s been convicted of crime. When I say conviction, I mean she knows exactly what she wants and exactly what she believes. It also helps is that I agree with those convictions.

  • What is the one thing that only you and your best friend will understand?

  • How would you describe your best friend’s ideal partner?

Male, cheeky, boyish and sweet. Maybe someone that looks kind of boyband-y, or like an actor (saying no names…) I think she would like to marry someone with similar views/beliefs to her – but then again, don’t we all want to marry someone with similar views to ourselves? To be more specific, I think she would prefer to be with someone who did not smoke or drink, but I know that if she liked someone enough and if she knew that those habits would not get in the way of their relationship, she would still be with them. I think she might have said in the past that she does not have a specific type – i.e. if she likes someone, she likes someone. Probably them being vegan would help.

  • Does your best friend like loud music or music that is at a much more reasonable level?

The latter. But then again, it depends whether the question is asking about music GENRE or music VOLUME. Because I am sure we would all like to listen to our favourite music loudly. Even pop music, which my friend likes. But I have a hunch that the question is referring to genre, and I know that rock music is stereotypically louder than pop music. So given that my friend likes mainly boybands, I would say that she likes music that is at a ‘much more reasonable level.’

  • What does your best friend think about the most?

Me, of course… Well… I suppose she thinks about the future, which is the same thing that I think about the most. She is going to be a movie actress. She also thinks about the people she loves a lot.

  • Describe your best friend in one word.

  • Three things your friend doesn’t know about you:
  1. I’m part Lithuanian
  2. I often pretend to be an invisible baby hamster when I’m around my sister
  3. My name means ‘beautiful’

  10. I only recently switched to a touch screen phone, before then I had never had one.
  11. Sometimes I think being a boy would be so much more convenient.

11 Questions:

What is your first ever memory?

I thought my first ever memory was of moving house and buying a pack of Harry Potter stickers to put in my sticker book when I was about three or four and I now realise that my first ever memory is of seeing/meeting my little sister for the first time. I don’t remember a huge amount but I remember standing in the doorway of the hospital room with my brother beside me being really excited and then when we went into the room the bed was on the left and my Mum was on it and I can’t remember if my Mum was holding my little sister or whether my little sister had been put in one of those little plastic beds that you get that are attached to the wall and I remember going over and having a big family reunion/cuddle on the bed with my Mum, Dad and my brother and I remember walking over to the plastic bed thing and looking down on my new baby sleeping sister.

What made you get a blog?

I’ve always been a very talkative opinionated person and I’ve also always loved to write. I used to write fiction and reviews and then when I discovered that my best friend has a blog I was jealous and I wanted to get one too, I had already had a vague interest and had been writing blog posts as word documents on my laptop for quite awhile entertaining the idea of getting a blog and never really having the courage to ask my Mum if I could have one, also over time I just became a bit more experienced with computers and designing websites and whilst the appearance of my blog isn’t all that great I had the confidence that I could design one that was good enough and I felt I had enough time to start and maintain a blog. Also sometime last year I started watching YouTubers and I loved what they did and how they documented their lives and there was no way I was getting a YouTube channel so blogging was really second best, although I believe that it’s actually better but don’t tell YouTube! It also just felt like the right time. I feel like I haven’t properly answered the questions, in short I got a blog because I love to write and read about experiences in life and advice. I enjoy writing so much and I wanted to get some feedback and I also just wanted to have the experience of sharing something with others that they appreciate and may benefit them in some way. But I mainly did it for me, because I wanted to know that I was capable of starting and maintaining a blog and hopefully having it be quite popular (I view 107 followers as quite popular!).

If you had £1000 right now, what is the first thing you would buy and why?

A camera. The reason I say this is because I have been thinking about what I want for my birthday and I’ve been contemplating asking for a good camera with a moveable screen and a good microphone, I want this because A) I’m very into the idea of filmmaking (obviously short films with only a small camera) and I would also like to experiment with making vlogs or videos even if I never put them anywhere, especially vlogs as they would just be nice to watch back – although I would also need some gear to go with it all such as memory sticks and SD cards etc. but it’s only because I’ve been thinking about buying a camera quite a bit recently that I say a camera and obviously I wouldn’t spend it all on a camera I would probably buy some gear and put the rest in my bank account for a later date.

What is your biggest achievement?

I don’t know what my biggest achievement is, firstly I don’t want to sound too big-headed and also there have been quite a few things I have achieved that I would consider to be big achievements. I guess my biggest achievement is already having a life plan. I know lots of people my age don’t but I have a life plan and one that I really love so that is definitely a good thing. I guess it’s probably only my biggest achievement if I actually complete and succeed with that life plan right?

Who is your favourite band?

My favourite band is The Vamps. It used to be One Direction and then I discovered The Vamps and One Direction were laying low a little and so The Vamps quickly took over. I’ve seen them live three times now. Once in Brighton and twice in London and they were brilliant all three times! I love all of their songs and all of them are unique and different from the other. If there’s ever a time that I jam out more than usual it’s when I’m listening to The Vamps, I sing their songs at the absolute top of my lungs and nothing’s going to shut me up! If you don’t know who they are or haven’t listened to any of their stuff then I really suggest you go and check them out (you can thank me later!).

Do you have any guilty pleasures?

Um… not particularly. Sometimes I love a good action/superhero movie. Sometimes I will randomly buy a couple of bars of dark chocolate (because most of them are vegan, but you must always check) and eat both of them in one sitting just because I can. I would say the last two are probably binge watching The Vampire Diaries or watching The Maze Runner for the 100th time. I don’t know, are these good answers? I don’t think I really have any guilty pleasures.

What is your favourite holiday destination?

There aren’t really any traditional places we’ve been to on holiday that we keep going back to and I haven’t been on any holidays in particularly exotic or exciting locations, obviously I enjoyed and loved the holidays but I don’t go on holiday to Spain every year or something. I would probably say my favourite holiday location is the Lake District maybe as it was just so green and lovely and there’s only a small town so it’s not like there’s loads of busy shoppers or traffic. I also went on holiday back in April to this really lovely location where there was a lake directly in front of the log cabin that we were staying in and by directly in front I mean there was a small bit of decking that you could sit on and then the lake directly beneath and in front of you, now I don’t really like being near water but I can’t deny the beauty of the location. However, it was only the land that belonged to the people that were letting us stay in the log cabin that was beautiful but we didn’t leave so I can’t judge the town or the surrounding areas but the land that we stayed on was absolutely beautiful! I got some amazing photos which I might share at a later date.

Do you prefer reading books or watching movies?

I don’t know if this is a kind of “do you prefer the book to the movie version” or a general which do I prefer so I’m going to answer both. I usually prefer the book version if it came first as it’s usually more informative and I feel you can get to know the characters a lot more as you can be in their internal thoughts etc. and there’s just so much movies have to miss out to make it short enough. I do tend to watch movies in general more though but I don’t think that means I prefer them it’s just easier to sit down and watch a film when you’ve had a long day and you’re tired than it is to sit down and read a book in my opinion, but I think I like them both in different ways and I take something different away from each of them. I feel like there’s a lot more to admire with films but sometimes I feel more connected to a book. Obviously as an aspiring actress I can take quite a lot away from a film and in some ways watching TV can be kind of like studying as well as enjoyment.

What is your favourite shop?

This is so hard because I have favourite shops for different categories of things. For example I always go in Superdrug when I’m in town because I love looking at all the make-up and I would always go in there over Boots but for clothes I would usually go in Primark over say, H&M (although I was in there today and they had some absolutely lovely dresses that I really wish I could have bought!) And there’s also this second-hand DVD store in my town centre that I go in all the time and am always buying things from because they sell really cheap DVDs and they have loads of them! You can always find something good in there! You can also trade in stuff you have that you no longer want for money or vouchers wish is really good.

Do you prefer a day at the beach or a day by the pool?

I don’t really like either. I have aquaphobia so I don’t really spend all that much time around water, nor do I wish too but I would probably say pool as I don’t like sand at beaches as it gets stuck in your hair and in your shoes and I goes in your eyes if there’s wind and I just don’t really like the sand although your hair looks amazing after you’ve been by the sea I’ll give you that. But I think being by a pool is just so much more refreshing and you feel comfortable that whatever happens weather wise you can find shelter and be warm.

If you had one wish, what would you wish for?

That I had more wishes… haha! Typical! No, I was joking, I think I would wish… to have the perfect life, for everything I’ve got planned to work out okay and to always be happy no matter what happens. Obviously not literally, like if my Mum died horribly say, I wouldn’t want to constantly have a smile on my face or something but I mean that no matter what happens I always end up happy in the end even if it takes quite a long recovery time.

11 Questions For Those I Nominate:

  1.  What is a big realisation you’ve come to in life?
  2. What does your dream life look like?
  3. If someone turned up at your door and said you were going on an adventure to anywhere of you choice, where would you go?
  4. What’s the biggest achievement you’re most proud of?
  5. If you could swap lives with anyone for a day, who would it be and why?
  6. What’s a TV show or film that you wish were real, including all the characters and why?
  7. What are three things you hope to have achieved by the end of 2016?
  8. What person or pet do you wish were still alive?
  9. Who’s your biggest inspiration and why?
  10. What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given and why?
  11. If you could choose an age and remain that age forever what age would it be and why?

*NOTE*: All of the questions above are questions I asked in my previous liebster award, not because I’m too lazy to think of new questions but because I am truly interested in your answers to these ones.

So here we are, at the end of another wonderful Liebster Award! I am so honoured to have been able to do two in only a few short months!

Before I officially end this post, I would just like to let all my readers know that I haven’t been blogging over the past couple of days because actually I’ve been trying to write this one for three days now and the WordPress website has just not been working for me at all lately, so I honestly apologise but it has just not been possible for me to write any posts lately because the website hasn’t been working.

Anyway, I really hope you like this post and that it was worth the wait! Haha! If you enjoyed it please give it a like and follow me if you aren’t already! I haven’t specifically nominated anyone because I think everyone should get involved with this award as it’s so cool and really fun to do! If you do take part please leave a link in the comments so I can check out your post!

That’s all for now!

The Future Tag

Hey guys, I know this is another tag and not something more original but it actually fits in quite nicely with something that I’ve spent loads of time thinking about recently and then I discovered this tag over on Bella’s blog and thought I would give it a go. I was planning on writing a post about the future today anyway – although I know I’ve done some on that topic before – as I have been thinking quite a lot about the future and it’s starting to freak me out a little bit, I’ll explain more in another post which I will publish soon!

There don’t seem to be any specific rules for this tag so I guess you just answer the questions, I’m not going to tag anyone because I kind of hate singling out specific people I guess, I feel like that’s unfair on all the other bloggers that I follow or who follow me because I guess I feel like I’m picking favourites and I’m not. So if you like this tag and want to give it a go then please feel free and make sure to leave a link in the comments so I can check it out!

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

In ten years I will be 25/26 and I will hopefully have completed my university course/drama school course 5 years ago and will be making it as an actress, I really want a dog but if I become the level of actress I actually want to be it might not be possible, I want to be able to regularly donate money to charities and I would love it if I had a house of my own with my boyfriend/husband.

Do you want to get married?

I do want to get married yes, I have regular fantasies of my wedding day and I quite like looking at wedding dresses through shop windows and admiring wedding rings on twitter and tumblr, I sometimes try and plan out my wedding but then I decide it’s probably a bit stupid planning this early in advance – usually the planning happens during or after watching a soppy romantic film that’s involved marriage (keep an eye out for one in my July Favourites!). I am very big on the whole spend thousands of pounds thing rather than a small wedding – when I do get married you’ll get a post and photos, don’t worry!

Do you want to have children?

I don’t want to have children but this is something I’m really scared to tell people so I hope you won’t think any less of me, through my own experience of being a child and observing what my mum’s life is like through being a parent I think the amount of dominance a child had on my life would be something I found stressful and frustrating I guess, obviously if you have children they take priority and they should because they’re too young to be able to properly understand things but giving up my own life so that they could do things wouldn’t be something I would want. I also think I would be a terrible parent. I can’t stand the idea of the pain you must feel actually giving birth to the child or the continuous morning sickness, hunger and weird cravings that you have whilst pregnant. I would also feel worried about what to do with them education wise, I have always been home-educated so in some ways I think I would feel obliged to home-educated them as a duty to the way my mum had brought me and my siblings up (which was wonderfully by the way) but I think I would want to send them to school; firstly so that I could work and do other things in the daytime and also because I wouldn’t actually be capable of teaching them all the things they needed to know in order to get by in the world. Don’t get me wrong though, I love children; I think they’re cute and funny and nice to be around but I personally don’t think I could handle bringing one up.

Do you want to move? If yes, where?

I really love where I live, I’ve lived here basically my whole life. It’s got loads of interesting places to go and loads of handy places which are all relatively close to my house, I also think it’s a great place for young people to grow up as it’s got a massive park and amazing opportunities – I’m so glad this is my hometown but I don’t think I want to live here forever, especially as an aspiring actress I think I would need to move somewhere where there were more opportunities for actors such as London or America somewhere. London would be easiest as it’s relatively close to where I live now and doesn’t have loads of guns but America is kind of the place to be if you’re an actor so I don’t know. I quite like the idea of moving to Nashville but that isn’t really based off anything proper.

What does your dream house look like?

My dream house is at least two-stories if not three-stories high as I don’t like one-storey places as I feel like they’re not really proper houses, except of course they are. I would like a big kitchen just because I think they look cooler. I would want more than one bathroom but not necessarily huge bathrooms because I think eventually they end up being too big and just a bit empty. I would like a massive bedroom for me and my boyfriend/husband as I’ve always had a tiny room and would like to have more space. I would like a spare room and a walk-in wardrobe with lots of shoes as well as clothes. I could also give you all the decorating details but I’m not going to bother with that.

What is your dream job?

Acting. I love acting more than anything else I’ve ever done, I don’t know if I’m good enough at it to actually be successful doing it but I honestly can’t see myself doing anything else now, it is my biggest passion.

What are five things you want to do before you die?

  • Go to Paris
  • Get a dog
  • Get married
  • Move in with a friend
  • Dye my hair pink

Are you scared of the future?

Absolutely terrified! I have been thinking about how scary it is for days, I don’t know if anyone else gets like this but in my head everyone is kind of frozen in time and never really ages and so I can’t imagine being anything other than a child because it’s all I’ve ever known and later this year I’m going to turn 16 and adulthood is closer than childhood for me now and I’ve been coming to terms with this massive realisation that I am actually going to grow up, I’m going to turn 18 and 21 and 30 and 40 and god forbid 50! That’s going to happen and it’s no longer a realistic distant future those things are happening now and they’re going to continue to happen for the rest of my life. I am also incredibly excited though, don’t get me wrong! It’s going to be great!

What’s your biggest dream you would like to achieve in life?

This is going to sound really dumb given that I’ve just told you I want to be an actress but I would really love to be in a film, that’s probably my biggest dream in life. I don’t know if it’s a good one or a bad one to have but I just love watching films so it would be great to be in one and it would be such an experience! Not necessarily like a blockbuster film but just any full-length film that gets properly shown to the public would be great, a film with an amazing cast that has been really great to film and had a really interesting and engrossing storyline that made even me want to know what was going to happen next.

What would be the ideal age for you to die?

I kind of want to live eternally, but at the same time I don’t. I’m at a crossroads with this one. I used to want to live eternally because I was so scared of dying and I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to achieve everything I want in life in time but now that I’m older I think living forever would be a bit much because then you would have to experience the world ending and everyone else around you dying and that kind of stuff. I also don’t like the idea of getting old and I never want to get past about 28 but because of my fear of dying I can’t really die young either. There isn’t really an alternative for me, I know I’m weird and this post is way too deep.

I think I’m going to end this post here, if you could relate to it please leave a comment down below as I would love to read it and respond! Also, as said above if you do/have done this tag leave a link in the comments so I can go and read it!

Please like this post if you enjoyed it and if you aren’t already you could even give me a follow! It would be much appreciated!!

The Respect Award

Hey guys, so I decided to do this as I don’t have much time today and I just wanted something really quick and easy to do before I spend the evening in London, sorry if it’s not very interesting… I saw Elm do this on her blog and I thought it was really cool so I decided I was going to do it for you guys today! I hope you enjoy it!

The Rules:

1. Paste the award picture in your post.
2. Answer the questions.

The Questions:

What is respect and what does it mean to you?
Respect is very important to me and I think respecting people is the thing that keeps humans humane and keeps the world spinning in the right direction. Respect is when you treat everyone the same no matter who they are inside or out. It’s when you find out that someone has family issues or maybe doesn’t have the easy life you once thought but yet you continue to treat them the same even with that new-found knowledge. Respect is when you love someone so much that you always try and make things right between the two of you no matter what it takes, respect is when you are willing to give up something you really want in order for the other person to do what they really want to do – another word for this is compromise but to me it also takes an awful lot of respect because let’s face it, everyone is a little bit selfish and sometimes there are things that you just want SO much that you will go to any lengths in order to get it but if something else pops up that is more important for another person and they can’t do it unless you give up what you want to do then I think that’s respect, you respect them enough to think it’s worth giving up what you want in order for them to get what they want. I, for example, quite often give up things I want for other people because I’m a very selfless person (if I do say so myself) and I always think other people’s happiness is more important than my own and I will go out of my way to be nice and make others happy. But, if I don’t respect the person I’m doing this for then I wouldn’t give up what I wanted for them because I wouldn’t think it was worth giving up what I wanted for that person. My conclusion is that respect is when you love someone enough that you will be completely selfless for that person. It’s respecting other people’s opinions, for example, I personally don’t do things my mum doesn’t want me doing out of respect to her and respecting her opinion and if she feels strongly that I shouldn’t be doing something I respect her opinion and that prevents me from doing it. I think respect is another word for love.

Who do you respect the most?
I respect so many people so I don’t really know how to single out a specific person, but I really respect my mum and my best friend. But I respect everybody that’s really close to me. I respect my mum because she’s always right and she knows loads of important and interesting things and she’s always willing to have a good debate on basically any topic. I also love and respect how sarcastic she is. I really respect her opinions and views and she does so much for me day-after-day and she will always do things for me no matter how out of her way it is or how much time it takes to do it and I really respect her for doing that for me. I respect my best friend because she doesn’t judge me, this month is our third year anniversary and in the entire three years I have known her she hasn’t judged me about anything even once and I just love her and respect her for it so much! And I hope I respect and don’t judge her in the same way. She’s always up for a long conversation about literally anything, even if she doesn’t have an interest in it and she’s always willing to listen to me talk about something I’m very passionate about and she fakes interest which I love and respect her for too. I respect her for all of her interests and how she will literally spend hours researching any topic in the world and I think that is so respectful because you can literally ask her anything and she will go and find out the information for you. I respect her for her honesty because as far as I know she has never lied to me and I think having a friend that doesn’t lie to you is the most respectable thing there is because I know I can count on her to tell me the truth about literally anything.

Which bloggers have earned your respect?
LifeWithDannielle has earned my respect hugely because ever since I started blogging a month ago when I was really scared no one would like my posts or read them she was always liking my posts and writing comments that really kept me motivated and showed me that there was at least one person out there who was enjoying what I was writing and that (among other things) is what has made me continue my blogging adventure and I don’t see it ending any time soon! Her blog is so fun and all her posts are so awesome! So if you don’t already follow her or aren’t familiar with her blog, go and check it out here –

Elm has really earned my respect as well and I know she did this award originally so I’m not expecting her to do it again but she has also always been there on my blog, liking the posts I write and commenting. She really helped me feel like I had a place in the blogosphere and helped me feel welcome so I really respect and appreciate her for that! Her posts are always really engaging and unique so go over to her blog and check out her posts  –

But most importantly every blogger that I follow and every blogger that follows me has my complete and utter respect because without all of you and without all your continuous support and respect my blog would be nowhere and I would basically be writing posts to myself that no one read, in fact I probably would have given up and labelled this blog as a lost cause but I haven’t done that because of all of you. Everyone that I follow is a complete and continuing inspiration and I love reading through all of your new posts everyday and getting motivated for my day! Thank you to each and every one of you – I sound like I’m saying goodbye or something… haha! I’m not saying goodbye, I’m here for good – or at least a very long time!

I really hope you enjoyed this post – if you did please give it a like, if you aren’t already then you can follow me and if you feel like doing this award then feel free and leave a link in the comments once your post is published so I can read it!
